Vincent Catania was elected as the Mining and Pastoral Member (term commencing 22 May 2005) in February 2005. At 28, he was the youngest person in Western Australia elected to the Legislative Council.
Vincent is married to Johanna Ramsay; with whom he has one son, Nicholas. He has now worked and lived in the North West for many years where he is an active member of many community groups throughout the Gascoyne and Pilbara regions. Vincent is the patron and Chair of the Exmouth Boat Harbour Steering Committee; reviewing the expansion of the Exmouth Harbour. He is a strong member and advocate for Karratha and Carnarvon Chamber Commerce.
Vincent considers the mining industry to play a vital role to the North West and the development of our state’s regional communities. He is committed to working with the State Government to provide that services and infrastructure to drive development in the region.
As a young Member of Parliament and father, Vincent understands the pressures of individuals and families in the North West who often face greater personal costs associated with living in smaller towns they are connected to.
Working hard to provide better police services, education and in particular, health: to attract more nurses and doctors to the region, Vincent is a strong voice for the North West.
